Portrait fun in the Old City…

This past Tuesday evening I had the opportunity to meet up with three of my photography students and three beautiful young ladies from Harden Valley Academy and create some beautiful portraits. It never ceases to amaze me…no matter how tired I am after a days work, taking photos just seems to invigorate me…in fact its hard to know when to stop. Tonight we went all over downtown Knoxville taking photos and having a blast getting to know each other. The girls were just perfect…I’m not sure who had the most fun…me or the girls. We all just laughed and had a super time getting to know each other and discovering beautiful light. As the evening went by and the light began to fade…the rain started to set in..but that didn’t dampen our spirits…the fun just kept on going. Thanks so much Paige, Mckenzie and Michalia you were just a delight to work with…I’m looking forward to seeing you again someday. Here are a few of the images that I created, I hope you will enjoy them as much as I did creating them.

Knoxville Wedding Photographer spends a day with the beautiful Dawn and Pam

Sometimes you just need to take an afternoon with a few friends and have a good time creating some images. This afternoon I got together with two photographer friends and two beautiful models to focus on just relaxing and getting better at the skill of taking beautiful images. We had such a good time trying all kinds of poses and all kinds of lighting setups. Dawn, a professional model / actor was our first model. I’m so thankful for her willingness to spend the afternoon with us. We had such a great time that we decided to get together again..so the next weekend Dawn brought her sister Pam who is just so much fun to work with. There’s never a dull moment when you get two sisters together in the same place. Please enjoy a few of our images from the two shoots.

Erin & Trevor’s Wedding Celebration

it was the beginning of a beautiful day…. in Townsend, Tennessee. Fog was hanging low in the valley, a cool breeze was blowing, horses were running across the fields, and the mountain trees and flowers seemed to stand taller knowing that today would be a day of celebration as Erin and Trevor proclaimed their everlasting love for each other. As the sun rose higher in the sky and the fog burned off wedding party members began to arrive ready to help with the celebration. The excitement grew with each passing moment as family and friends arrived and spent time reminiscing and basking in the joy of the moment.

Trevor was standing on a deck overlooking the beautiful Smokey Mountains, his back was turned and all at once Erin appeared around the corner of the house. She slowly approached Trevor, gently placed her hand on his shoulder and turn him around….it was a magical moment as they saw each other for the first time. They embraced and the love they felt for each other could be felt by everyone. We snapped a few images and then left them to spend a few moments together. Wow…what an amazing moment.

Erin and Trevor…we’ve been so excited about photographing your wedding, it was an amazing experience. But what made the day so amazing wasn’t the beautiful weather, the awesome mountains, the love of family and friends, …. the joy of the day came from just being with you two. Thank you for inviting us to share your wedding day and for the friendship that has developed through our times together. We are looking forward to seeing you both over the years and watching your love for each other grow.

Heading into Fall…..

Hi friends…yep I know you’re scratching your had and saying..”has Steve finally lost it? I thought his blog was all about wedding and portrait photography”. Well it is but sometimes a person’s just gotta take a break and do something for fun with the family. This morning my sweet wife Carol suggested that we drive over to the mountains and get a few apples and enjoy the coming of fall…so that’s just what we did. It was such a nice drive. The day started off very cool and refreshing but I have to admit as the day went on the cool turned to warm and then to hot…but that’s ok because very soon those hot days will be just a memory and the cold days of winter will be here and those warm summer days will be just a memory. We drove over to a little place called Cosby, its a small spot just outside of Gatlinburg, TN it you didn’t know about the place you’d never find it…or if you were driving along the road and blinked your eyes…yep you’d miss it.But there is one wonderful little place there called Carvers Orchards, we’ve been taking our girls there every fall for as long as I can remember….it’s just Carol and and I now, but the trip was still worth ever moment…Carver’s is a wonderful place to visit.

I met this big fella sleeping on the porch of the old barn. I walked over and had a good chat with him. Seems he’s from North Carolina but we won’t hold that against him. He told me that he’d come over here with his family to spend a week camping at Elkmont…he was really looking forward to running through the mountains.

These are some of the last blooms of summer but never fear because as soon as this color fades…nature is going to offer a show that no place in the world can match.
